Well the answer really isn’t a simple yes or no, it’s both. Most people come to see a chiropractor because they are having some type of pain (low back pain, headaches, neck pain, etc). Once the pain has subsided, which it almost always does in a few visits, the patient thinks their care should be complete, which it can be if their goal is simply to get out of pain momentarily. But if a patient would prefer to take a more proactive approach to their health they should be going to the chiropractor regularly in order to improve the health of their nervous system and PREVENT the pain from returning. This can be accomplished because a chiropractor adjusts the spine to relieve interference within the nervous system. The nervous system innervates and controls every cell in the human body and consequently plays the most important role in regulating overall health. When the body is free of nerve interference it can do what it does best and HEAL ITSELF!
So, if maintaining your health and feeling good is important to you, then what’s so bad about going to the chiropractor regularly (once a month or so) for maintenance care?
